The North Star

The North Star is used for navigation because it always indicates true north in the northern hemisphere. It is important to have something in our lives, like the north star that is consistent. Some people actually consult the stars, on a daily basis for guidance in their lives. The first thing they do in the morning is to check their horoscope. There is something better than consulting the stars for guidance in our lives. Yes, it makes sense to look to the one who made the stars. He has all the answers.

The term world view indicates how we view the world and determine what is right and wrong. Our world view becomes our north star. We basically have two choices, a secular world view or a Biblical world view. I won’t explain the secular world view because that is the view point that is common to most people. However, I will say this world system operates by a secular world view. That system is self-centered, what is in it for me. It is motivated by lust power and greed. There are no absolutes, everyman doing what is right in his own eyes. It is so obvious in our culture today that America, once had a biblical world view but is now developing a secular culture. A secular world view is definitely not a north star because the culture shifts according to the whims of the people.

     Let’s talk about what it means to have a biblical world view. It means coming to the reality that there has to be a creator of humanity and the universe. It is all too complex for it just to happen on its own. It takes more faith to believe there is no creator than to believe that there is. Actually, it is common sense though. Everything we use everyday was created by someone, why would we believe that humanity and the universe were not created by someone. The truth is we choose not to believe because if we believe then we are subject to his authority.

     There is a creator and he left us a manual to succeed in life and the manual is called the bible. What a loving creator to have left us a manual. The things we use every day were sent with a manual on how to use that product successfully. Now I wonder where they got that idea. So, since there is a creator and he gave us a manual of how to succeed in life then we aught to read the manual. This the beginning of having a biblical world view. It doesn’t do any good to just read the manual. You have to commit to do what the manual says.

     Making that commitment is important because as we live life we are confronted with making decisions on a daily basis. If we don’t read the manual and commit to it then we don’t really have a biblical world view. You see our relationship with the creator and his manual becomes our north star. We consult him and the manual when we are making our decisions that affect our family. Why can I trust the creator and his manual to be my north star? That is a great question and we will look at that.

     I am sharing with you out of personal experience. It has been said that “a man with a theory is never at the mercy of a man with an experience.” In other words, the man with experience has been there and done that and has the T Shirt as they say. This is what Jesus told his disciples when they asked him in Acts chapter 1 verse 6 “wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom again to Israel? In verse 8 he said “you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. It is the duty of his disciples to be witnesses and to share this good news in our family, our home town and wherever the lord leads. The disciples shared what they had seen and heard, they were witnesses.

     The bible or manual as I like to call it tells us all about our creator. It says he is the same and he changes not. He is not a man that he should lie. Let God be true and every man a liar. He is the Alpha Omega the beginning and the end. He is all knowing. He is all powerful. When Moses asked God who should he say sent him to Pharoah. God told him to say I AM sent me. God is, he has no beginning and no end. He is all that you need when you need it. He is our savior, our deliverer our healer our provide our comforter our counselor and our friend our LORD which means owner and our peace.

     The bible is a story about Gods original intent for creation and mankind. The failure of man and the story of Gods plan of redeeming the human race and creation. The deceiver and his plan to undo Gods plan. Jesus coming to defeat the deceiver and sending the Holy Spirit back to live in us to give us power to defeat the deceiver. The rise and fall of kingdoms and the lives of those kings and the people that lived in those kingdoms. The prophesy of the coming kingdom that Jesus brought and will one day be manifested in totality on the earth. It is the most exciting book that tells us what was what is and what is to come. It was written by around 40 authors over a span of over 1400 years and the message is consistent. It is evident that although men penned it the Holy Spirit guided them as what to say.

     I would like to add I tried the secular world view for 33 years and I have been living by the biblical world view for 46 years now.  I am convinced and have dedicated my life to the Lord and living by a biblical world view and as I approach the latter season of my life I have no regrets.
